Arghhhhhh

If you're in the mood to get really ragin' check out this blog entry about my dear old friend Amber Jones. Stunningly narrow minded and spiteful!! Zowee - I am sitting here pounding the keyboard!! Looking on the bright side, Amber will be on the Current on Friday morning which is cool :) You go 2L!

Sunny Sunday

My to-do list is getting shorter as we count down to go on holiday to Spain for a week next Saturday! April's been a pretty busy month so I am looking forward to sitting by the beach and spending time with our friends and travelling companions. Need to get my stack of books ready and go and get a new bathing suit today (wish me luck!)

Yesterday I marketed. It was good - not quite as busy as other days but still lots of people about. Beth and I are really pleased with how the KD is going - it's been lots of fun and also just great to get the creative juices flowing. Last night Stu and I were ready to unwind - spent the evening drinking wine, knitting my new project (I know - party animal huh?!) and watching The Darjeeling Limited - an odd movie full of people that I really like - the soundtrack was I think my favourite part.

The weather this morning is amazing. I could feel the sunshine streaming in this morning when I woke up late-ish. I think it might finally be time to dig out the spring/summer clothes!

What's up with me these days . . .

I read the first three pages of Then We Came to the End while waiting for the bus this afternoon as the rain spit down on me. So far so funny - very reminiscent of Douglas Coupland (who I love.) I am, of course, willing to be proved wrong but the first three pages, which are now marked with drops of rain have made for a promising start. As a somewhat reluctant occupier of the veal fattening pens, I have to admit that office culture can be pretty dang funny if described by the right voice. My book cover's different though - I always find it interesting/funny how books in North America and the UK have completely different artwork.

I'm tired. Last night we hosted a Chilli Night at our church and 80 'hungry folk' came out. (Stu has a knack for artfully convincing me to commit to things that then proceed to stress me out but eventually turn out well in the end.) It was a really good night - tasty food, good atmosphere and lots of help so we were happy. Even managed to raise a bit of dosh for the church's building fund which is good too.

And yes, Ninny and Nico, I am a crap blogger lately - sortof having issues about being madly off in all directions most of the time - but here's a late night post just for you x

Young at heart

I was fifteen all over again today, driving around parking lots with my learner's license! Perhaps I should explain . . . Not having a car during university, combined with moving to the UK where I'm not legal (on so many levels) has meant that it's been a while since I've been behind the wheel. On top of that, those of you who know me well will probably agree that even in my younger days I was never a very good motorist (I'm okay with that.)

My skills notwithstanding, while in the rest of the UK I could just swap my Canadian credentials for British ones, thanks to the uniqueness of Northern Ireland that I've come to know and love so much, I get to start the whole driver training process from scratch. Living so close to work, church and city centre has meant that I haven't been horribly motivated to get going - to be honest bus, bike and my own personal chauffeur known as 'the Stu' suit me just fine for the most part - but I've finally gotten around to starting the process which includes lessons, a theory test and the dreaded road test . . . If you're out on the roads in Belfast give me a honk in the wee black Polo with L plates 'cause I'm coming your way!

Pick of the week!

I exhort you! Go you immediately to your nearest movie theatre to watch Son of Rambow! It's a wonderful blend of eighties charm, delightful characters, fab soundtrack and an engaging story - oh, and I should mention that if you're not one for blood and guts (like me) don't worry because it doesn't actually have much to do with Rambo at all. Like I said - go now!

As you might've guessed, we are just home after a trip to the cinema. A bit of chillin' and illin' (whatever that means) was in order after a smashing day for Knitwear Deli at the market!! Ye ha - we sold lots of stuff with the added bonus that this time the great majority of our customers weren't related to us, which is always encouraging ;) We've introduced handmade cards and lovely pashmina's into our repetoire (yes, we're just full of good ideas!) which both went down a treat. Etsy shop coming soon . . .

Recharge

Sometimes the best remedy to what ails you is a quiet weekend. Not that anything was ailing me in particular, but after a whirlwind-esque week Stu and I enjoyed chilling out and not having a bunch of places to go these past couple of days. The weekend included drinking coffee, cooking, listening to the radio, a bit of crafting, photo-taking for S (mad props to him for the photo btw) and a scrummy Sunday lunch with the in-laws. Last night I even got a trip to our friendly neighbourhood cinema for the rom com that I've been conspiring to see for a good while now. Even feeling good enough to face another Monday.

Miz Marigold

Ta da! Yes, I know I look kindof serious in the photo, but don't be fooled. I am delighted with my Ms Marigold! I came home from my night class and set about industriously sewing in ends and doing final finishing so I could then do the 'photo shoot' (don't laugh at me!) It's a great fit, the pattern was easy to follow and the whole project was so wonderfully quick compared to other projects I've done (a bonus, especially considering I've got quite a to do list going on for the Knitwear Deli!)
